Hey Scotty, long time subscriber here. I wanted to ask a question that may be redundant. I own a 2023 Corolla SE that I purchased in April of 2023. I've only put 4262 miles on this car , so far. My question is: How important is it to use the Toyota branded motor oil. I live an hour and a half from a Toyota dealership so I've been using the mobil 1 0-16 motor oil and I change the oil and filter , myself, every 4 months. For all of my other maintenance needs I use the Toyota branded items and fluids. ( Oil filter, air filter , cabin air filter, coolant ,etc.) Do you recommend using the Toyota branded motor oil ? My car manual recommends this but I didn't think it was a big deal and I feel like an idiot for not reading my manual thoroughly enough, a whole year-plus later.
Toyota doesn't produce their own motor oil. A manufacturer produces the oil and Toyota slaps its name on it. Any motor oil that meets the requirements specified by the manufacturer is fine. These specs are in your owner's manual.
