I’ve heard the c-hr has water pump issues. Mine is a 2020. Does this model year fall under that or was it with earlier models? Is the water pump internal or is it on the outside of the engine?

the water pump just runs off of the fan belt it's very easy replacement job but as long as it doesn't leak I wouldn't worry about it it's not that big of a job anyway

Where did you hear this? Is there any documented evidence?
I don’t think there is any issue with them and as Scotty said, it is not a difficult job to replace it since it is only driven by belt not those stupid designs that is driven by timing chain.
Yeah it’s a standard Japanese water pump. Was just curious where the member had heard that they are prone to failure..
