Toyota ES and GS Parts and Maintenance

Hey Scotty,

Blue collar worker here, contemplating if I should get a Lexus. I've always loved the brand and want to purchase one as a gift to myself for all the years of my hard work but it seems like Lexus are designed for the rich and or well-off. I like to keep my cars until they Flatline but as they age and start giving me little problems here and there I don't want to spend a fortune to repair parts. What's your advice? Sidenote: 2013-2014 ES and GS models are what I'm looking at.

The ES model had less maintenance/repair costs than the GS model.

Thanks. Explain why and how please. I'm not mechanically savvy.

The GS is a sport luxury sedan and for some reason (maybe this), the parts are much more expensive than the ES. The GS model year is either rear wheel drive or AWD while the ES is front wheel drive, which result in more maintenance repair costs for the GS. The other thing is that the people who get GS models, like to drive harder compared to ES owners.
