Thoughts on this Toyota Paseo

A Dealership near me (I live in MN) is selling a 97 1.5L Toyota Paseo with 35,149 miles (original miles, no reported engine swap) Automatic transmission, FWD for just under 9k.  Is the Paseo a decent vehicle?  I know little about them as when they stopped production I was only 5 years old.  Anyone have any experience with the vehicle or know of any issues the car known for?  Thanks in advance

Offer $3k and maybe you get to walk out the door paying under $5k.

But 1st make sure to get a very good idea of the condition.

A 25-year-old Paseo (basically a "sporty" Tercel - Toyota's cheapest car at the time) for $9,000? They're claiming 35K miles - 1400 miles per year? Yeah, right. What exactly are they smoking over at that stealership?  Sounds like a BHPH lot special.

Too many red flags right out of the starting gate with this one.

Its even a Toyota dealership thats listed the car, I thought it sounded fishy which I thought i should post about it. Here is the listing for anyone that wants to look at it https://www.carlsontoyota.com/inventory/used-1997-toyota-paseo-base-fwd-2d-coupe-jt2cc52h4v0035032/

I guess that dealership is doing some bottom-feeding having a 25-year-old Tercel-based car on their lot.

If you click on the carfax report there is a paper trail for the odometer.

OK, mileage may be OK but it's still 25 years old and letting a car sit around for years is more damaging than piling some easy miles on it.

Run away from this deal quickly.
