I have an 1989 Toyota pickup dlx 3.0 v6 4x4 stick shift. Lately when I drive the car shuts off while I'm driving. I would jabbering wait anywhere from 3 40 minutes for it to start again. At first it would I guess because of the momentum and it being a stick shift it would jump start itself and keep going. Then it would just shut off and I would jabbering push-button the curb, wait a few minutes then it would start and I drive off. Sometimes when it shuts off and I try to start it it would make a sound like its just cranking but wontvturn over. That sound cars make when you disconnect a spark plug wire. I would even at times pressvthe gas pedal but nothing. All the shops I took it to charge me to diagnose it with out saying anything. Or give me any ideas. And say its hard to tell what's the issue. What can it be? Thank you.
Sounds like a classic case of the fuel pump on its way out!
When it overheats, it seems to stop working. Then, after it cools, it works again.
Pressure test the fuel pump & change the fuel filter.
Watch Scotty’s video too - https://youtu.be/oBo-vmEEwv4
Pray that fixes it. Good luck !
Sounds like an electrical component is breaking down when it gets hot. As mentioned above, the fuel pump is a possibility. What you need to do is try to determine if you have spark, injector pulse and fuel pressure. If you lack any one of these or more than one of these you have a reference point to start you diagnosis.
