Toyota solara, key fob won't open trunk

Hi, my Toyota solara key fob won't open trunk, makes a crack sound when i press and hold, but won't pop open.

Please help.

Sorry toyota solara 06 se 4cylinders. It doesn't have keys for the trunk, it uses the key fob

Well I see a few possibilities. One is electrical:

  • maybe your battery is getting weak. Have it load tested
  • poor connection. try swapping the fuse. Inspect the connectors on the latch solenoid. Make sure it has good grounding

or mechanical:

  • latch is getting worn out
  • latch is seized up from dirt and lack of lubrication

to get the trunk open, try pushing down on it as you unlock.

See if there's an override (consult owner's manual)

You may need to visit dealer service. They may know some tricks for getting it open.

Bummer, then do what MMJoe suggested.  Is there no way to open the trunk from inside the car?

Use your key.


It's an 06 solara, no key hole on the trunk
