I have a 2003 tundra v8 automatic the oil pressure gauge seems to work when the engine is cold but when it warms up it just dies and sits at the lowest point possible. Could it be a sending unit? Toyota wants an insane amount to have it trouble shooted
The stepper motor for the gauge is probably bad. If it's reporting fuel pressure at the beginning, then the cluster is receiving the oil pressure information just fine.
go to the parts house get you a cheap oil gauge take out you sending unit from your engine screw in you gauge you just bought and start your engine let it warm up and see if the oil pressure stays the same or if you lose your pressure when oil gets hot if it stays normal its in the dash if you lose pessure you know its major same test dealership gonna do but cost more good luck
