Hello,
I have a 2013 Toyota Tundra FFV (5.7L 4x4, 123k miles), and I verified with several services, including my local Toyota dealership and VIN checks online that this truck is indeed a FFV, and everything has stated that it is, so I went ahead and put a tank of Ethanol in a few days ago.
I noticed driving after I put E85 into the tank, I randomly start losing throttle response for a second or 2, then it comes right back, as well as getting a history code (P1605) but no check engine light or active/pending codes.
Could this loss in throttle response be due to the truck learning how to run itself on E85, or could it maybe be a dirty throttle body/MAF sensor, or something else entirely? I plan on taking both off this weekend and cleaning them just to be sure, and possibly just switching it back to normal gasoline depending on your response, but I’m confused as to the sudden issue, considering this truck has been running fantastically since I bought it.
Thanks,
Nick
Here's the problem with e85 it's 85% alcohol basically. You put that into a tank that use normal gasoline it will suck all the crud and especially water into the fuel system and can make it go bonkers. If you only ran e85 they couldn't be any water because it would absorb it from the beginning but gasoline does not absorb water your problem probably is contaminated fuel now that it's mixed with what was in the tank
Is there a remedy for this issue, or do I have to do a full flush of the fuel system to get all of the crud out to be able to run it back to normal?
