Hey Scotty, Thank you for the previous advice regarding my old Honda Jazz, The new clutch helped a lot.
Recently I purchased a 2013 Toyota Yaris 1.4L Diesel manual transmission from a Toyota Dealership it's got 77k miles and runs and looks great. My question is how should I be maintaining this car as its my first Diesel and I have been told to only use premium Diesel to keep the DPF etc clear is there any truth to this or will regular Diesel be fine. Thanks from your fan in Scotland.
That D-4D is bulletproof as long the previous owner changed the oil regularly & you continue to do so too.
Follow the maintenance schedule that’s mentioned in your owner’s manual and you’ll be all set.
With DPFs, it’s important to go for a hard drive (pun not intended) on the highway once a week to keep it in optimum condition. A lot of low speed city driving will quickly clog the DPF.

If you use regular diesel, I’d change the oil every 5000 kms. Stick to the fuel specification that’s mentioned in your owner’s manual.
Good luck & enjoy the legendary reliability of Toyota D-4D diesels.
