Hey Scotty
Im a big fan so i finally went Japanese, got myself a good deal on a 2002 Toyota Yaris Verso mini van (aka the Fun Cargo in some regions) 1300cc vvti front wheel drive, 130k miles. There's a judder if you're just slightly quick lifting the clutch on pull off almost as if she's wheel spinning when it isn't doing, any idea what this could be? If I very gently lift the clutch like you would, say on a driving test there is no judder so it isn't impacting on my use of the vehicle just something I'd prefer to fix no rather than leave it to possibly just become worse over time.
You see, Every other gear change is perfect and I'm feeling no clutch slip at all, in fact for its engine size it feels plenty zippy enough for me.
Could she just need a change of transmission fluid or could it mean something more sinister like perhaps a chewed up 1st gear cog inside the trans?
Hope I've been thorough enough in my description of the problem and thanks in advance for any advice given.
A.
Judder under the conditions you describe is usually caused by clutch condition. We don't get that model over in the US - is it a hydraulic or mechanically operated clutch?
You might want to check for the condition of pedal to clutch equipment, and also check for any looseness/play in your engine/transmission mounts, as any deterioration of those would make any judder feel worse.
