I have a 2011 nissan xterra with 140k miles. One time, the engine wouldn't start when cranked and threw the P0340 code. Another time, the car just died silently, no sputtering, while stopped at a red light. All the dash lights came on, but I was able to start it and drive back, same P0340 and a U0101 code too.
I took it to the dealership, and they have no clue. They quoted me for a bunch of stuff, like battery terminals, timing chain tensioner, and crankshaft sensor. I've since then made an appointment with an independent mechanic; in the meantime, any ideas?
