Scotty, I have a 2001 4Runner with a 105k miles. New shocks, struts and sway bar links. I had knew tires put on( Firestone 265/70/16, same ize that came w the vehicle). Over 60 miles an hour on grooved Interstate it tramlines very bad. Does not do it on blacktop highway even at higher speeds. The suspension is sound and has been gone through and checked. I was told that the straight pattern of the tires is causing this and that a more broken pattern would be better. Is there any way to fix this without changing tires? Using 32 psi which is recommended for the vehicle. Worse at higher PSI. Thank you
are they run-flats?
No they are not run flats. I had it aligned to factory specs as well
I read in some 4runner forums that this can be remedied sometimes by a modified alignment but don't know who to trust with that.
My General tires do that too. After a couple months, it's starting to go away.
Thanks! Good to hear. I had someone else tell me it may drive better after a few thousand miles. It may take a while given that they are 70k rated tires. May need to drive gravel roads for a while to wear them in.
