Scotty and friends,
No, not that trans......
I have a 1997 Honda Accord 4/cyl automatic with 240k miles on the odometer that is suddenly making noises on the first to second shift and on the second to third shift.
Last week I had the oil changed and a drain and fill on the trans, not a flush, and the mechanic, that I have been going to for 30 years heard nothing. Yes, it doesn't happen all the time.
Am I about to lose the transmission? It would help so much if the car lasted another 3-4 months.
Any thoughts would be appreciated, and thanks in advance.

you don't mention what kind of noise, but a healthy automatic shouldn't really make any shifting sounds.
A 24yo car with 240k wouldn't surprise me if trans is about to fall apart.
You can try some goop in a bottle to see if it helps things, but you should probably start looking for replacement vehicles.
You may add some Lucas transmission fluid to help the situation.
Honestly, at that age and mileage, it probably is starting to go. Will it last a few months? Hard to say. You could gamble, but I'd start looking for a replacement just in case it doesnt make it.
Thanks folks. Not the answer I wanted, but probably the most likely answer.
Until now I have never had a car payment so I will
probably make mistakes about that too.
Thanks again and I will try the additive to maybe buy some time.
