Transmission Failure?

Topic starter

Honda Civic 2015, 123375 miles, automatic.

My car started making a loud clunking noise, in the front passenger side when pressing the acelerador. Later on, I  wasn’t able to switch of gears anymore. If the car was in the reverse gear it would not go reverse.

Check to see if you have a busted drive axle.

Is that the Honda CVT? Then it's not surprising those last 125k-150k.

Try replacing the fluid - it might have a bit more life left in it.

As far as the clunk - inspect the axles and other components.

If you're sure it's the transmission, try finding one in a junkyard.

(Make sure the junkyard will warranty it and the labour required to replace it)

Unfortunately your transmission is probably toast. I had a customer with one to the same thing and he had to get another transmission. You put in a used one from a junkyard to save money
