Scotty, I recently purchased a used 2010 Toyota RAV4, six cylinder, automatic, 111,000 miles. I'm pretty sure it's the original transmission fluid, but it does look very good. Should I leave it alone or change it?
If it looks good (redish no burnt smells), you should be safe to change it. Not knowing if it has been changed, I'd try to find out. Otherwise, I'd change it along with filter.
If it looks good, did someone else change it and you would replace it for no reason? What schedule does Toyota say?
I had a Uncle that would change every fluid, grease every fitting, and install a new battery, just because he wanted. Doing the same might make you feel better, even if the old owner changed it a month before selling it so buyers would think it was well maintained.
