I have a 2017 Buick LaCrosse. I had the transmission oil changed a few years ago at the local car shop for less than $150 (Drain and fill). Now it is time for another drain and fill and my new local shop says the car takes a special oil at $75 a quart and this will cost over $600. Did the first shop use a universal oil which is not for this car or is the second shop the correct one?  I looked up taking it to a place like Aamco but they talk about some special complete transmission flush which I thought was not done any more. Any suggestions?

Aamco are ripoff artists, stay away from them. Your new shop sounds like they're hitting you with a ripoff price as well.

The owner's manual for your car should list the type of transmission fluid to use.

the price of fluid has gone up, but $600 is ridiculous. Don't get any flushes. Just drain and fill. Ask around.
