Transmission issue.

Okay I bought a 2008 Ford escape XLT. Front wheel drive with I think it's a 3.0 L engine. I bought it in 2018 I think maybe 2019 anyways it had 142,000 mi on it and it had a slight transmission problem. When you push the pedal all the way to the floor to accelerate it doesn't however if you kind of push it slow it'll slowly accelerate to the point where it's drivable mergeable drives like a boat but otherwise drives fine.

I assumed it wasn't a transmission problem because it still got some level of power just not full level of power. I've had very minimal mechanical issues with the truck from the time that I had it I've only had to replace a couple sensors and a window motor..

I ate my mistake was that I coded it in the beginning but I didn't know what I was doing and I stopped what I started and I think I erased the codes by accident I recall getting a PP something maybe 5 code but I don't remember and when I tried to check into it again it said there's no codes...

The wrench light or the powertrain or power drain has been on since the problem persisted but here's the thing I've been driving this truck for about three and a half years with no transmission issue and so if it were a major problem you would figure by now at $173,000 you'd have some sort of issue...

I took it to a shop to replace the battery that's all I had money for and they did confirm that I had a transmission issue I guess my question is trying to figure out how bad it is so I don't have to worry about it as much... And I know it's really hard to say without having a code to diagnose it how can I diagnose it and get the codes again...

You know at some point it'll crap out on me but as far as a transmission goes it shifts okay it doesn't slip it doesn't stall it just doesn't have throttle power...

I know this is kind of a random open not enough information question so if you don't have a definitive answer no worries.

For the transmissions are rather stinky in those I can just about guarantee of yours is going out it's probably not worth the money to fix it
