2003 Mercury Sable 40,000 actual miles. Automatic with overdrive. 6 cyl engine. Transmission will only go in reverse. No forward drive. Any help appreciated.
UPDATE: This was my daughter's car and she's decided to sell it for junk. So thanks for the replies. She gave up very quickly.

It possibly could just be a stuck gear shiftier or a linkage broken? popped off?
When did you service your transmission last time? Sometimes a trans flush can help with several issues.
Many mercury models are knows for transmission problems. Usually it's the transmission control solenoids.
If i'm not mistaken the Sable has the trans torque converter holding a lot oil it self. It should get drained too.
Plus new filter and fluid.

No lights on. No scan tool. Trying to get it towed to service station. Broke down 3 days ago. So we wait.
