Transmission science

Scotty, I have an 03 Buick Rendezvous.  Trans filter and fluid was never changed and it has 145,000 miles on it.  It's a spare car anyway.  I went for it and changed it just to challenge the old wives tale.  Afterwards, I noticed a leak on the ground.  Inspected and saw the trans lines leaking.  Would it be coincidence or is there science behind this?  The trans lines were not leaking before hand.  Thank you in advance.

If leaking at Trans connection (I would assume), was likely just tight enough and your maintenance loosened just enough to cause the leak.  How did the medium of the old filter look?

Oddly enough, the lines right by the clip that holds them to the front frame are rusted out. The crazy part is, it wasn't leaking when I did the work.  The medium actually looked good.  No particles at all.

Ah, that's good news. You should just replace the lines. In a way your lucky as you just worked on it and was checking! Should be a grommet on that clip. make sure new one has it. Spray the heck out with undercoat after. Merry Christmas

Will do. Thanks alot.

Not worth thinking about . Just fix the lines.
