Morning Scotty
I have a 2005 dodge Dakota st 4x4 automatic 3.7l v6 with 121000 miles on it. I had written you the other day about having the crankshaft senor relearned. I took it to my local mechanic and he tried to relearn it? But it would not let him do it kept throwing some weird camshaft error he said? So we checked the wires to the crankshaft sensor and all was good nothing was wrong. So we replaced the camshaft sensor and then it would not crank at all. So yet again all wires and senors were checked and everything was good.
Since it was close to the holiday he could not work on it that day. So finally I pulled the fuel pump relay and replaced it with the ac compressor clutch relay. Now it will fire up but not run fully after about say 15 to 20 seconds it quits. Then pull the key out of the switch put it back in and crank again and the same thing runs for a max of about 20 seconds and cuts off if you try and give it gas it picks up a little but quits pretty much after 5 seconds? He is booked up for a while so can not work on it right now?
I went back to check all the codes I could find when the sensor was acting up. The only codes I could find on my saved blue driver report were p0344 p0340
Others were u1415 u1414
Do you have any idea what my next step should be? I know getting close to winter and I am hoping it is not the fuel pump!! 🙁
I checked the battery and it was at 75% by the way.
If it helps vin number is 1D7HW22K45S253111
Thanks, Scotty
Ps if it happens to be the computer? Do you have a particular place I should get it from and or not from? Thanks again Scotty
It does have communication called failure so it could easily be they computer. That are the wiring feeding the computer
