I own 2008 Toyota Highlander, 6 cylinder, base model, 147,000 miles. Developed the known issue around TSB0041-13, engine rattle 1-2 secs on cold start. Read other forums they used a 0W40 synthetic, sometimes with an oil treatment. Would you recommend or have other suggestions? BTW I’m in Canada so 4-5 months of winter!

You need a new timing chain. I am surprised yours has lasted for 14 years and 147,000 mile. It should have been replaced at around 10-120,000 miles.
Make that 100-120,000 miles.
I considered timing chain but learned of TSB which I believe is my issue with VVT gear allowing oil to drain back into pan on shut down. Check out this YouTube video which explains better than I can
