My new Kia has something odd I have never seen. Off the vibration damper is the normal serpentine belt which goes to alternator and water pump. The car has EPS so there is no power steering pump. The engine is non-turbo. There is a V belt off of a second groove on the vibration damper which goes behind the engine to a mysterious pulley. Have any idea what that is?

A picture speaks a thousand words..
Not sure about 2021, but according to online part catalogs, the 2019 2.4L L4 had separate belts for the alternator and water pump.
Turns out after doing some research along with hanging a smart phone behind the engine and snapping a picture it is the water pump. It bolts to the back of the engine between the engine block and the fire wall. Why it needs a separate belt and a V belt at that for the water pump is a mystery.
Do you have AC/an air conditioning compressor?
I failed to mention the AC compressor is also accounted for. I haven't seen a V belt on cars in many years so I am puzzled.
Jack62, where are you....
