Is there anything wrong with using Prestone Platinum Universal 350,000 mile/15+ year coolant (green) in a toyota originally with pink coolant? It says that it "Universally works with all fluid colors; All OAT, POAT, HOAT & IAT; G05®, G11®, G12®, G12++®, G13®, G30®, G40®, & GG40®. For all engines & engine sizes, new and older engines." I assume the color is just a dye and doesn't mean much. Not sure what magic they're using to claim 350k miles coolant life though.
I would not mix it with the pink coolant and certainly do not trust the 350k miles claim.
Sure, it would work
I personally just match coolant color and requirements with what is recommended in the owners manual.
Universal coolant may be *universal* and might work fine. At the same time, I rarely have to buy the stuff, so I’ll get the real deal and right color. It just makes it easier on my mind.
If you are going to use universal coolant, my only recommendation is NOT to use it during the warranty period of your car. You could potentially void the warranty by doing such a thing.
