Unplugging car ignition relay

Topic starter

I have a 2007 Pontiac Torrent, GM

When I was homeless and living in this car recently, I would unplug the ignition relay at night time, in addition to using my steering wheel lock, to prevent people from stealing it

My question is is if this is bad for the car

Will it cause ‘computer memory problems’

I have heard some say that these relays are not meant to be unplugged several times a day, which I was doing

no.

eventually you could wear out the plating on the relay and it could start corroding and giving you a bad connection. Maybe even break the terminals off it.

why not unplug something cheaper like the EFI or IGN fuse.
