Should I buy this used Mercedes

Hey Scotty, I know your not a Mercedes fan, but I am looking at a 2004 Mercedes Benz E320 with 180,000 miles. I scanned the car, it has no codes, and looked at the data stream. Everything is fairly normal. There is no oil leaks and all of the electronics work. The only thing was that the rear passenger door sometimes does not automatically lock. The battery is good. The seller says that he is selling it for his dad who is getting older and does not drive the car anymore. He claims usually the car is only driven on trips of California to Las Vegas. The paint is a bit faded on the roof so I am assuming the car sits sometimes.

My mechanic told me to watch out for SBC brakes and air suspension. This car does not have the air suspension option. Also there was no SBC brake problems on the instrument cluster. I did ask the seller if the brakes have been serviced, but he had no idea what that even was. He is not really a car guy. Also when I closed the hood, the instrument cluster says its open. It might be the latch sensors. I did check the wheel wells to make sure they were even to see if the car has had any accidents. They were all good. Also the car was made in Germany.

I was able to get the price down to $3,300 what do you think?

Also I am merely looking for a knock around car to maybe fix the paint and have fun painting the wheels black. It is not really my daily driver.

The seller can claim anything so I wouldn't take their word without mechanic inspecting it. And even if it's okay right now those cars as Scotty calls them are endless money pits, so unless you have money sitting somewhere and you don't know what else to do with it then keep away from it.

My mechanic owns and specializes in Mercedes. They are a family friend so they do not charge me the normal rate. With that being said I ended up just skipping out on this vehicle. My mechanic told me its better to find a more higher priced car with no problems on it haha. Thanks for the input everyone.
