Found this BMW for $8400. I understand that these cars wont be cheap to maintain. However, the dealership offers a warranty plan on this car, which I plan on buying. Do most mechanics honor extended warranties if the warranty policy was purchased from a dealership?
You will curse the day you buy this car. The "warranty" will be practically worthless. This car might be worth $4000 on a really good day. The dealer will lie to you about everything. Run away.
BMW = endless money pit
From dealership = avoid
$8400 = too much
Dealership warranty = they'll always find a way to not honor it
SO a big NO
How much is the warranty? And what does it cover? If it covers valve cover replacement, valve cover leaks, PCV valves, ignition coils, spark plugs, catalytic converters, VANOS, timing chain/timing chain guides, at the right price then maybe. These things will start going wrong with a BMW that old and with that mileage. They usually don’t cover these items. So the warranty usually isn’t worth it.
With that said, if you are set on getting this BMW, here are two recommendations for BMW mechanics in the Los Angeles area:
Alvin’s Garage
Johann’s Independent
