Should I buy this 2009 Prius?

Hi 👋🏼 I’m looking for some advice about buying a car from Facebook marketplace. I’m looking at a 2009 Toyota Prius with 125,000. I’m not sure what OBDII code is but I do have the VIN# JTDKB20U897879494.  So the man selling claims it has no problems, runs well and that he has had it less than a year because he’s bought a 2010 instead. Is this a red flag? Can anyone give me any information on why someone would change their mind on a car this soon. Or any questions I could ask to clarify.  Sorry if this seems very basic, I haven’t bought a car since 2002 and this seems like the best place to go for advice! Thanks for your help😊

How do you know it has codes stored? Is the check engine light on? Did the seller say there are pending or stored codes?

So the man selling claims it has no problems,

You can't believe what a seller tells you about a use car's condition. They may not even be aware of hidden problems.

It could be. Or, it might be the newer car has additional features he wanted.

You need to have any used car examined thoroughly by a good mechanic before purchase to determine its condition. In this case you would want a hybrid expert who can tell you the condition of the 15-year-old battery and all the complex electronics.

You may want to look over the used car buying guide in the site FAQ.
