Thank you for taking the time out of you’re busy life. I have been taking advantage from many dealerships mainly from a Jetta engine issues  to a Passat again engine issues then the Volkswagen diesel wagon that I had to return because of the whole epa scandal, My Dilemma is my daughter really desires is a vw beetle I’m a former mechanic on the original air cooled motors restored Many from the CV swingarms to the motors floors windows doors you name it. I am completely unfamiliar with the new generation Beatles I’m aware they don’t make them anymore but she kinda has her heart set on it.Could you give me some information pertaining to what to look for  and models. If in fact it’s a futile decision feel free-to tell me exactly that. Again thank you. Also I know she needs a Toyota but how can you convince the love of you’re life it’s a unwise decision…

Well tell her Scotty says it's one of the dumbest things you could possibly do those Volkswagen Beatles were absolute crap. The second generation ones. The early ones were phenomenal air-cooled engines, but the later ones were just made it look like a beetle. There actually completely different front wheel drive water-cooled engines and their dual clutch automatic transmissions were absolute crap costing many thousands of dollars to repair when they break

These kinds of decisions usually don't turn out well. You don't buy a car with your heart; you should buy it with research and based on real information out there. Maybe showing her the issues people have with these cars based on VW forums or nhsta or carcomplaints. But if those don't change her mind either then maybe she has to learn it the hard way; I know you don't want that to happen but sometimes it's the only thing that works.

Sometimes, you have to let your kids make these bad decisions so they can learn the consequences of their bad decisions.  I know you're trying to do the right thing, Dad.  We have all been there.

I would not buy any VW Beetle built after 1972.

My wife has a beetle 1.9 tdi manual, 2002, 200k kms and had survived many beatings and still good. From time to time have to glue something, aftermarket door handls, roof with new fabric, suspension blocks never survive 6 years use, but the engine is solid, and its very low, need to be careful with potholes, but wife is very happy with the car. I might get other if this one dies {black}:idontknow:

Let us know if you are able to convince her to get another car, or if this is going to be an expensive lesson.

If she is paying for it, I’d say go the expensive lesson route. If you are paying for it, that’s a lot of money to throw away.
