99 Blazer vs 01 Escape vs 05 Sorento

Hey Scotty I'm looking at 3 different cars at a dealership. One is a 1999 Chevy Blazer with 190k on it. One is a 2001 Ford Escape with 150k on it. And one is a 2005 Kia Sorento with 130k on the clock. Which one do you recommend I buy?

Are those your only options? Any others which are in your price range?

To clarify, what is the price of these cars, and what was/is your price range?

I would definitely nix the Sorento. It is pretty close between the Blazer and the Escape. I would have both inspected and then buy the one that you like better.

Here is my opinion on them:

The Blazer is junk, it might last a while but they aren't the best SUVs. Definitely wouldn't recommend anybody to buy them for any serious money.

The Escape speaks for itself: https://www.carcomplaints.com/Ford/Escape/2001/

The Sorento is subpar-OK. Not particularly good and can last 150k miles if cared for but still cheaply made. I wouldn't consider it unless you can get it <$3000.

Whatever you decide to buy, make sure to have a mechanic check it out.

Don't you have any other options. What is the price of the cars? Maybe we could help you find something better in the price range.

With such crappy choices, I am guessing they are all dirt cheap, correct? The Ford escape is just junky and really unsafe, a money pit, not economical at all, and won't be worth a penny resale after you buy it. The Chevy has to many miles for GM products, although the 90's chevy's had somewhat better quality. The sorento is made like such garbage and buying it after 16 years would be a big mistake because those things are supposed to be in the junk yard by now. Get an old honda crv; they aren't that expensive. You will only pay like 3k for an okay 2002-2006 honda crv. It will serve you a lot better in every category that the ford escape bailed on.

I would go blazer, but none of those vehicles are 1. worth anything or 2. very reliable. Get it inspected by a mechanic and don't overpay.

The full size Blazer ended production in 1995, but if you're talking about the smaller SUV, Trail Blazer, those where terrible, and so was were the other two. Actually all three of the vehicles you mention were crap when they were new. So, they won't be any better that they're 15-22 yrs old.
