2006 F-150 vs 2008 Grand Cherokee

I'm looking for a newer used truck after selling my 94' 4Runner. Something newer but also won't cost me a ton. I'm looking at an 06 F150 with 170k miles with the 5.4L V8, and a 2008 Jeep grand Cherokee with the 5.7 Hemi, which has 241k miles. Both vehicles look in very great shape and right now the Ford is looking like the better option since it has lower miles, however the seller for the F150 is asking about $8k and the seller for the Grand Cherokee is asking just a little over $4k. I know a little bit about the Ford Trucks but not much about the Jeeps. What are your thoughts?

Both engines have serious problems.

So, all I really took from the video with the 5.4L Triton motors is that they'll get destroyed if people neglect maintenance on them, which is a general factor for most vehicles. I have yet to watch the 5.7 Hemi video but I don't care a whole lot for Jeeps either, at least their newer ones.

I have a few friends who own those generation F150's and they're very happy with them. They said they've seen plenty of them go 300k miles with very little issues so long as they're taken care of.

Do a little more searching for information on those Ford 5.4 motors. By all accounts they have serious design deficiencies. Problem with the Hemi is self-destructing camshafts and lifters due to inadequate lubrication, particularly at idle. However if I had to choose between the two I'd go with the Ford.

Neither is a great choice.  Of the 2 probably the jeep is worse. Run away.
