Scotty my wife is looking at a 2016 kia optima with 87672 miles on it. Is this a good buy ? She needs a better car badly . Thank you sir
If this is your only option, don’t pay much for it(literally peanuts). It’s approaching the end of its useful life as Hyundai/Kia vehicles last about a 100,000 miles and theen fall apart after that.
I’d really pay a little premium & get a Camry/Accord instead, for fuss free ownership.
Specifically the Sonata/Optimas have very bad engine designs with the 2.0 and 2.4. They also have GDi and some have turbos so they do tend to fall apart even earlier like 80 90k miles.
Which is probably why it’s on sale. It’s barely 4-5yrs old..
Yes. The newer Kia vehicles are basically junk 2008 made Kia is in my driveway perfectly reliable Korean made Naturally aspirated engine 4 speed auto. Very simple. You can find these Elantra/Sportage vehicles from then with over 250k miles. Not the newer ones. Odds are the engine is going out.
I mean the Optimas have very poorly designed engines and the quality is very low so I would not pay more than 3 4 grand for one their life ends at 110 120k miles max. I would look for a Camry or Accord.
"She needs a better car badly " What car does she have now?
According to owner reports at carcomplaints.com, the engine fails completly on average of between 60-100k miles in Kia Optimas.
