Merry Christmas Scotty,
I am thinking about a used Rav4 or CRV from 2010-2014. I don't need all wheel drive or 4 wheel drive. Most of the used vehicles have one or the other of those features. Are these features problematic? Should I only go for front wheel drive for reliability? Thanks

If you don't need an AWD/4WD, it does not make any sense buying it. FWD ones are cheaper to buy and maintain. Same thing goes with features.
For potential reliability and lower cost maintenance get the FWD.
Toyota and Honda AWD/4WD aren’t necessarily problematic. They just require a little more maintenance, which cost a little more. But if not properly maintained, can become problematic.
Between an AWD RAV4/CR-V or a 2WD Hyundai/GM/BMW, I’d still pick the former, every time.
