I was in the process of buying a used Lexus RX450h with a V-6 engine. I checked the service records and the oil changes were done at 12000 miles and 26000 miles. It has 29,000 miles.
Could the engine be damaged because the first oil change was 2000 miles over the recommended interval (10,000 miles) and the second oil change was 4000 miles over the recommended interval?

The engine could be damaged because the real interval that any good mechanic would tell you for oil and filter changes is 5,000 miles or one year, whichever comes first.
