I would pass on the Edge

The 2007 Edges are decent if they are taken care of. The biggest issues are the cheap electronic components that Ford uses in their vehicles. As Scotty says, “ don’t pay to much.” Because they have no real value.

not a good time for Ford.

I bought a 2011, 2 years ago. It has 142,000 miles now. I bought it with 105,000. I’ve replaced all the fluids and hoses. It has not given me any trouble. I love it.  It has the 3.5, hoping for a long happy life of the water pump.

I've owned 2 edges (one edge and one mkx) of that body style. My wife loved her edge, we didn't have a problem with the water pump bc I would keep a little AT 205 reseal in with the oil at all times. (At205 is really hard to find right now) I replaced strut mounts often and sensors need to be replaced upon occasion. I would only recommend the FWD and keep it low mileage if possible and expect not the best gas mileage for it's size. Overall it was a really comfortable ride.

I know it's late, but oil doesn't run through the water pump right? Isn't it coolant? If that's the case, the AT205 wouldn't have an effect on its seal, right? I could be missing something.

The water pump is built into the engine block and is isolated by a rubber gasket. I didn't want that seal to go bad.

The Ford Edge is a bit unusual. The water pump is INSIDE the crankcase. But I'm still skeptical of his claim. I doubt that the bearing is lubricated by engine oil , or that oil even touches the water seal.
