Hello Scotty. Your channel has educated me so much on vehicle issues and operation and thank you for the "Ask Scotty" site.
I have a 2015 Porsche Macan S with the original battery which is almost 7 years old. My mechanic said it passed the load test however, I was thinking to change it anyway just because of its age. Do you think that that is a good idea and also if the mechanic does not use a memory saver when changing the battery will I lose all contents of the "jukebox", phone, radio and destinations set in the GPS?
Thank you!
Francesco
I would use the memory saver on that car. Besides the presets on the radio, you may have issues with other car functions.
Do you think that that is a good idea
If it passed a load test, then I would keep using it. Also, after a quick google search -

it passed the load test
then keep using it
How long can the gel type battery realistically last?
too many variables to say.
But I've had normal flooded batteries last 7 years, and gel batteries are supposed to last longer.
