Hey Scotty!
I’ve got a 2016 Volvo V60 Drive-e “T5” with the 2.0L 4-cyl GDI turbo (not turbo & supercharged, just turbo) and Aisin 8speed transmission. I bought it with 18k miles about 2.5 years ago and I now have 85k miles on it. Ive had no issues at all; it’s been a great car and I love it. In the owners manual (and under the hood) it calls for 5W30 Synthetic Oil; I change my oil every 5k miles instead of the “Volvo Recommended” 10k mile interval. However, I just recently received a “Bulletin” from Volvo corporate that says I should start running 0W20 in my car since - I asked a Volvo dealer tech and he said that it was due to “piston issues and low oil pressure”. Is switching the oil on an engine with that many miles okay when it’s ran fine on 5w30? What are the pros and cons of switching from 5w30 to 0w20? I live in Atlanta GA and do about 80% highway driving. Thank you very much!!
I would stay with the 5w30. Especially since you change it out every 5000 miles.
Thanks, Doc! That’s what I was thinking. Thanks!
