When starting my 2000 v70 volvo wagon it likes to jump to 4000 rpm off the jump and gets really loud, then it works its way down, its rough when accelerating from a red light also. Etc light come one occasionally so does check engine. Took it to auto zone to be scanned and they said fuel system was the engine light.

"fuel system" is pretty vague. What was the exactly code? Look it up on obd-codes.com and follow the troubleshooting there. You're probably going to need to measure your fuel pressure.
