Scotty, I have a 2008, Volvo V70. Automatic , 120,000 miles. My wife was driving it the other day and she said the headlight on the driver side didn’t work, I checked it out and the high beam, the low beam and the turn signal doesn’t work, the driver side rear flash is twice as fast as it used to. I checked all the fuses as well as the bulbs, and they’re OK. Could it be a relay and how do I test that? My light tester says that there is at least some power to the plug. Would a scan tool help me with this?
Would a scan tool help me with this?
No, the diagnostic system doesn't usually monitor lights. Especially in 2008.
i recommend finding a repair manual that has schematics.
Also, a multimeter would give you more information (exact voltage) than a test light.
Since all the lights on that corner are affected, I would suspect a bad chassis ground connection so check those.
the driver side rear flash is twice as fast as it used to
again, this can be a bad bulb, socket, wiring or ground

It was a bad ground issue. Thanks for the advice.
Good on ya for finding it! Was it corroded or just loose?
It was corroded…great suggestion on the multi meter, because the power was scant compared to regrounding it… that taught me a great lesson, the test light doesn’t mean “proper” power is getting thru. Thanks again!!
