Scotty, I recently got me a 2000 Ford Excursion 4x4, 6.8L V10, with 276k miles.

There are some minor issues, it has a code for a lean condition on bank 1, but it smells like it's burning rich, a few misfires, and the final code is for the trans temp sensor reading way out of spec, it's reading 8,000 degrees. Aside from that, the truck runs, and drives perfect, it has no rot, the 4x4 works, and the AC blows cold.

Now I have my ideas on the engine issue's, basically plugs, and injectors. But I want to know, I got this for $2,500 in the Mid West, what do you think of this buy?

Honestly the 6.8 is not a bad motor, if the transmission is in good shape cause that is the weak spot. other then problems mentioned Id definitely get a thorough check on it, run it till it drops. I’ve seen hardly maintained 6.8s go 300k mi. I’ve also seen a couple maintained 6.8s go 400-500k mi.

I got a check up done on the truck by a reputable shop just recently, and the problems listed where all that came up

@timberwolf429 sounds good, well drive it till you can’t anymore 👍

Could be ok, if you have need for it.  The 7.3 would have been the preferred motor if you could have found one, but you would have paid up.

However, $2500 is just the beginning....

Well in today's market you can't get much for 2500, so if it runs decently you have done well.
