      Scotty,

I own 2 Camaros right now, I have a 6th gen 2017 LT that I daily drive and I have a 2002 Z28 that i bought 2 years ago and it only had 2,400 miles on it. still has very little miles on it now. I have always wanted an SS 1LE, even more than a corvette, it’s been my dream car. I wanted to order a brand new 2021 model of the 2SS 1LEs but production is stopped and you can’t even order one. their predictions are sometime in August they will resume orders (by then 2022 production may be started). Unfortunately for them, this gives me time to second guess buying one. I don’t go to the track, i don’t street race. i plan on babying this car, aside from just driving it a LOT 😄. I just really like all the performance parts, and all the engineering attention these cars get, and the driving experience. with all that said, with all these performance features and and special engineering for the track so the car can take the abuse, but keep in mind that i won’t be driving it like that, will the sum of all these parts and engineering equal a car that can last a long time?

GM has given up on Camaro. They've all but said this is the last generation, and the engineering team has been reassigned to other projects internally. I truly believe you are thinking the car has this world-beater engineering to it.....and it doesn't. The 1LE is essentially a handling package with some aero changes, that's it. Trust me, GM doesn't build the Camaros to take abuse. That's why the most troublesome year out of Camaros was 2020....yes, 2020. And the number one issue was Problems with Ignition. Don't take my word for it, listen to Scotty:

All that being said, there is literally, absolutely no way to justify the ridiculous price tag GM puts on their cars, particularly the SS models and the 1LE. We won't even talk about the ZL1.

If you aren't going to use the car for its intended purpose, I would not buy it. It doesn't make sense. Plus, you know they are just using up the supplies they have left to make as many Camaros as they can with no care for quality at this point. I would save my money. Drive your Z28 more. Buying a new 1LE would be burning good money in my opinion. I certainly wouldn't recommend it.

Have a 2019 SS/1LE. I don't track mine either, and been using it regularly and has served me well. I switched out the oem track tires it came with and installed performance all-seasons so I could drive it all year. I love mine. Really though, you could get a 1SS or 2SS with the mag ride and it'll be just fine. Yeah the 1LE wheels and tires are wider and nicer, but if you're not going to track it and don't want to wait, test drive one see if you like it.

As for the no orders...the chip shortage due to the pandemic is wreaking havoc on a lot of vehicle production lines.

Edit timed out................I wanted a 6spd manual and it was readily available in 1LE locally so that's why I got the 1LE. Now the 1LE can be had with the 6spd manual or 10spd automatic.
