Hello.
I have 2013 Chrysler town and country touring. I brought it last year to be a second vehicle to a brand new van that was totaled out. Now this vehicle is my main vehicle out of 3. However something is wrong, When I bought the vehicle there were two warning lights on tire warning light in engine warning light. Tested the vehicle and vehicle read p0420 bank 1. The other code was for a bad oil pressure sensor. I replace the oil pressure sensor and from invoice from others left the catalytic converter sensor issue alone for over a year. Now when I drive going from a stop to go the vehicle feels like the transmission is slipping. on the highway when I give it gas it struggles to stay at highway speed and the engine or alternator sounds like it’s revving up while driving even when I have the vehicle at around 20,000 RPM or tried. I don’t know if they are related but when you go from sit like a red light the vehicle jerks in pop like the front wheels are pushing back before the pup for to go. Other times it struggles to go up hills to get off the highway speed it’s like you just don’t wanna go. Even though the vehicle has 2013 on it the mileage on the vehicle is over 260,000 miles I have my ideas of what the problems may be but I want someone else opinion. My first thought is the alternator is going bad but it may also be the catalytic converter needs to be replaced or it could be bad spark plugs those are my top three choices but if anyone else has an idea of what may be causing it pleas help me narrow it down so that I may begin working on this vehicle
Please check the FAQ. It's covered in detail there. But your symptoms point to a bad cat.
You can try using a bottle of Cataclean but it may only temporarily help. You have to find out what upstream of the CAT is causing the problem. Usually, it's an overly rich fuel mixture or in your case, the engine is probably burning oil from worn piston rings, especially with that mileage.
