What do you think of the old Toyota Hilux as a first truck?

No. Get a normal, reliable, low maintenance car in good conditoin. The newest with the least miles that you can afford. After that you can think about toys.

What mileage and price? What are you planning on using it for? You're looking at something almost 30 years old. If you want something for using once in a while and it's mechanically sound then go for it.
