Scotty, My mom just bought a 2011 ford fiesta hatchback.
it has 171k miles on it and when she bought it everything was fine. now when she cranks it she has to crank it and hold down the gas pedal and keep doing that until it starts once it starts it runs fine. whats the best and cheapest way to fix it?

Any idea how old the air filter, fuel filter, and spark plugs are? Has fuel pressure been checked? Scanning it for codes would be a good idea.

Another thing that comes to my mind is the fuel pump. But yeah as @chucktobias said first check for codes as that can give a better idea of what the problem could be.

Get it scanned for free at any major auto parts store and report back please.
