What midsize SUV should I buy <$8000 in Phoenix, AZ?

OK, so I have pretty much struck out on all SUVs that I have posted about. What the heck is a good SUV, make, model, year, mileage, price...pros and cons.

Clarification: How many years and miles do you need to get out of it? If you need it to last >150,000 miles, your choices are limited.

Stick to Toyota or Honda.

Forget about Ford escape or Edge, they have transmission issues around 120k miles.

My very last post is above the one for the Edge.

I don't like Toyota at all. The Honda I looked at had way too many recalls.

Keep looking.

What size are you looking for? Toyota Honda and latter models of Mazda are good choices.

Midsize, has to be less than $8,000.00.

Okay. At that level forget the Mazda. I would put mid-sized suv under 8000 in your favorite search engine for your area. I did that for me. Many vehicles came up.. see what comes up for you and than you can get recommendations on the vehicle.

Can't find one I want for less than $10,000 +.

I actually like the Chevy Traverse. From all my research, 2013 is the model year to get. No vehicle will ever be perfect, not Toyota or Honda either. When is the best time of year (this year?) to look for used suvs?

As long as the used car market is deluded, no time will be the best time to buy used this year, unfortunately.

Have you already gone through these?

I checked out a couple. The Ford Edge and the 2006 Honda CRV. The Honda has had continual recalls, as recent as last year. The air bags have many, many recalls, the electrical system and the accelerator pedal. What a surprise for Honda, huh? The Ford Edge reviews warn of water pump going out with no warning, uncomfortable seating. Oh well. The search continues. Thanks for the link Wingman.

As long as the recalls on the Honda are performed, I personally wouldn’t worry about it.. This particular CR-V has no outstanding recalls - https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls?vin=JHLRD68566C003817

Also, if you’re still interested in it, you can use the faded paint to bargain hard on the price. Scotty has a video on the 2002 - https://youtu.be/l966evHXtsM

If not, take your time & keep looking.
