Typical Chrysler low quality, based initially on a Renault design.

My family had a 94 and later a 2003 Chrysler Concorde (it's sister car). Neither of those cars had major issues. The engines we had were the 3.3 OHV V6 for the 94 and the 3.5 SOHC V6 for the 03.

Dodge had notoriously bad automatic transmissions in those cars. My friend had a 2003 Intrepid as a hand-me-down for about a year and the transmission went out at like 98,000 miles. This was like 2012. It was brand new when his mom bought it in 2003.

It's a shame. The old rear-drive 3-speed Chrysler Torqueflite used to be the gold standard in automatic transmissions.

When they switched to front wheel drive vehicles, it was basically game over, they didn't know how to make front wheel drive vehicles, and they never got ahead of the curve, unfortunately..

As I understand, they don’t have a lot of aftermarket support.  Would be tough to maintain one.
