What would be a good first car to purchase for everyday use?

Hi, I just turned 18 recently and was in the market to buy a used car. Any advice for what type of car that I should buy. I plan to use it to drive to school and work every day. Thanks

don't buy a beamer, Beamer Boy... Buy a really cheap Toyota Corolla or something along that line.
