what is the difference between a 4x4 that is on a rear wheel drive and a 4x4 on a front wheel drive?
is 4 wheel drive on a front wheel drive car any good?

It's all in design. For example take a Ford pickup truck it was designed as a rear wheel drive vehicle and in 4x4 they added a front differential in front wheel drive. Take a Honda they were originally designed as front wheel drive cars then they added rear for 4x4 or all-wheel drive.so it's mainly in design of course there's a difference between 4x4s and all-wheel drive all-wheel drive systems are much more complex where computers control just about everything and they were designed as all-wheel drive vehicles only
