Wheel bearing or heat shield

I have a 2018 Toyota Yaris LE with 60,000 miles on it. I have a growl like a bad wheel bearing. Mechanic replaced right rear bearing and left front and I still have the noise. Could the noise come from a loose heat shield at the gas tank?

A loose heat shield would usually rattle. Check your other wheel bearings. If they're OK you might want to use a noise finding device like the ones Scotty has shown in his videos.

If it was a bearing, the growl would likely be worse when making either a right or left hand turn at speed. If it growls when turning to the right, and gets better when turning to the left, you have a bad left bearing. By rolling down your rear window and listening, and then checking the front window, you may be able to isolate where it is. Having a friend in the car makes it easier.

As your mechanic already replaced two, once you figure out which side it is, it is likely the one on that side your mechanic didn't replace.

If your mechanic just replaced two wheel bearings and they were not even bad, I would get a new mechanic.
