Wheel vibration only on long trips

I've got a 2009 camry se with 267k, recently on long road trips(8+ hours) my front left wheel starts shaking when decelerating at highway speeds and sometimes at lower speeds. I'm not braking just letting go of the gas. Also, it never happens on short trips but starts occurring after driving the car for about 6 hours and even then it's intermittent. I've had a mechanic take a look at it and he did not find any loose parts or anything physically broken. He has no idea what's causing it because it is hard to reproduce. Thank you!

Have the tire/wheel checked for balance and defects.

That's an odd one, given how long it takes. In addition to what @Doc said I'd get it to that condition then jack it up & check for play at a rest stop.
