Try running the VIN through a vin decoder
I would just search around for that...trust me I wish there was a website that mentions all that. But to your surprise 2004-2008 Mazda 3s (and older mazdas) used Ford transmissions (and many other Ford components) because Ford took control of Mazda for some time to save them from bankruptcy.
I still have my old 2008 mazda3 and the transmission is still running fairly smooth at almost 200k miles.
look on wikipedia bc sometimes under the transmission section they list like for example
5 Speed Automatic AISIN-XXXX
5 Speed Automatic Ford-Mazda XX
6 Speed Manuel Jatco XXXX
you can find it I know it is liek that for mazda 6 cx5 cx7 etc.

Here is the second gen and it IS listed like that
